That's sad to hear, you sounded like you were getting really in to it and frankly the turnaround you made on your clownfish with brooklynella was astounding. What made you give it up in the end?

As for me, I need to update my profile lol.

I'm just marines now. Still have my nano and I converted my Juwel 190l in to a marine setup, which was hard work and stupidly expensive. By the end I could have had a custom tank built to my specifications for cheaper. That's Marines for ya... and as for the lighting! Finding something to meet specification was ridiculous, it took 6 months to find an appropriate set up, silly.

It's still very much an ongoing project, which I hope will develop over the next few years. It's been running just under a year now and I only have 4 fish and 3 corals, I haven't been in a rush with it.

Montipora spp. will feature heavily and I've picked up some great specimens which have shown significant growth so far.

Still enjoying the hobby, it's just had to take a back seat for quite a while!

I read an article about a scuttled American Aircraft Carrier turned artficial reef not long ago. Seems to be a new trend for obsolete vessels and rigs, make them safe and sink them, after only a few years they will be covered by pioneering species and become as much a part of the reef as the thousands of years of coral growth around them.

Testament to the tenacity of nature I guess...

Personally I stack the media in order of the frequency with which it needs to be changed.

So, Live rock will be a permanent addition so place that at the bottom in a filter bag, then Phosphate (PO4) remover which can last for a number of months (depending on PO4 load in the tank), then Carbon which you would replace monthly, then filter wool which you would replace weekly.

That way you're not pulling out all the media every week to replace filter wool at the bottom etc.

I understand there are a couple of different versions of the TL-450 setup, the chambers seem to differ in layout which is odd...
