Good stuff - a pot of food and a filter wotsit hardly cuts the mustard when you've been promised a tank

Thanks both Never seen her that way before so was worried about her but she looks a lot chirpier now and was swimming much better last night and looking for food this morning - they like to worry me! Suspect she may have over indulged in the sinking pellets and they go mad chomping at the surface when the food goes in so more than likely she swallowed some air I guess She must learn to be more ladylike

Cheers, S

Satsuma and Lucky spawned again on Sunday night/Monday morning and I noticed on Monday evening she was still popping out the odd egg or two every now and again. Since then she has been a bit floaty and she doesn't normally suffer this.

I noticed her parked in the top corner nose down on Tuesday evening and she moved when I opened the lid. This morning she was tucked under a plant and not looking for brekkie with the others. I've been starving them for a couple of days and she had a couple of air bubbles in her poo yesterday.

I'm wondering whether she could have egg impaction as I've just read this can cause bouyancy problems. Can't really tell from looking at her if she is fatter than normal as she's almost spherical anyway. Is there any way of telling? Would I be able to feel it if I picked her up? (I say I, that would be Mr S - I love them but hands on is a bit much for me!)

The tank has esha in at the moment for something else.

Any advice would be great

It looks a bit like this one

Doesn't take any water out though so you'll need a siphon anyway. I only use it on the fry tank as there's no gravel in there and I can hoover out their uneaten food easily It's got quite a suck on it so you do have to watch where you're aiming it.

I think I too have the same one - I did both just to be sure. I believe hard water has a higher ph so if you get a furry kettle you are likely to have a higher ph - but don't quote me on that, I was never much good at science in school

battery powered???????? why wasn't I informed of this lol

What make etc is it? can i get it from most places?

This will definatly make the shopping list this weekend

I had no idea such a thing existed until it turned up in the box of stuff (along with a large dayglo castle, some 'shipwrecked' binoculars and a zen style plastic bamboo ornament to name but a few ). I've just had another look and I can't see a make on it so it remains a mystery - but happy shopping

We were given a battery powered gravel cleaner by the chap that sold us a tank on eBay recently - it doesn't take any water out, just sucks the crud into a little bag - hours of fun , the bottom of the fry tank has never been so clean! And even better, it actually has a big red button you press to operate it! Still, not as much fun as losing control of the wrong end of the siphon and spraying nasty water everywhere
