My fish seem reasonably well behaved so far (just watch, I'll go home to total plant destruction ) and I have a variety of plants just planted in the gravel in a coldwater tank. So far I've got 5 cryptocorynes (some doing better than others but I can't remember which is which species), some amazon swords, elodea, cabomba, hygrophila polysperma, java fern, anubias, vallis, one I can't remember the name of but looks like a broad leafed amazon sword and a mix of random stems from Greenline. This is the first time I've had real plants so it's a bit trial and error, the only ones they've totally destroyed where the purple one and the pink spotty one (no idea of names, sorry!) - maybe they don't like pink!

Thought you meant the fish but now realise you meant size of the moor not the moor itself That's ok, I'll PM you

This turn of events fascinated me last night so I thought I'd share it - Fishie (old, 99% blind singletail) used to love floating pellets when he lived alone and used to find them in his old tank by learning where the filter current took them and then going to the same place every time. He knew that if he hoovered at the surface of the water right up against the glass he'd find them. When he moved into his new bigger tank about a year ago with the fancies I had to stop giving him floating pellets as a) he couldn't find them and b) the fancies scoffed them and suffered the consequences .

He's perked up a lot recently with the sterazin treatment I've had to give them and last night was mooching around the top of the tank hoovering away at the surface of the water looking for his pellets. I dropped a few in front of his nose and he hoovered them up (much to the chagrin of the fancies who were following him around hopefully .)

He's made no effort to look for floating food for months as he's now learnt that food sinks so he roots around in the gravel. He can't really see so didn't know for sure that I was near the tank so wasn't actively begging (although he does have some spooky sixth sense I'm sure of it). It seems he remembered how to look for his favourite food, fancied a snack and was having a hunt around just in case . It was exactly the same behaviour he used to show when on the hunt in his old tank but he hasn't done it for months.

I think that counts as long term memory

At a guess, if it's 3 feet long it looks about 1 foot tall by 1 foot deep so according to the volume calculator in General Info about 18 gallons or 80 litres
