I'm glad it's you that's got to get them in the bags rather than me! I can throw water all over the place when doing the simplest of activities let alone trying to get water, air and fish in bags
I'll bring something to put the bags in for the second leg of their trip |

Any chance the comet could be rehomed in a pond? I bought a small comet last year as company for my much bigger singletail and had the exact same problem, she had to be rehomed in a friend's koi pond. She bullied the old boy mercilessly, probably out of excess energy, boredom and frustration as she is perfectly well behaved in the pond. The older fish got really stressed and it took him a while to get over it
Her behaviour got worse rather than better over time until we separated them. This is only my experience, I know others have comets who are good |

Looked like a puff of smoke from her rear end, it dissipated into the water. Starting to wonder if I'm seeing things now!

Sorry to go off topic a bit but what does it look like when males release milt and they're not engaged in amorous activities? I'm sure I've seen my 'female' Fatima doing this but it was one of those out-of-the-corner-of-my-eye things. 'She's' never had the breeding spots but then she's only about 18 months old |

Mine we fertilised so I didn't have to worry too much about removing them. To get them out to go in the fry net we used a pipette that comes with medications with a little cut off the end to make it egg sized - then just sucked them up off the glass or wherever, if you gently wiggle them they come loose and can be sucked up
In my limited experience goldfish males are not gentle with their ladies! Fortunately my male fancy is not the sharpest tool in the box and while she can't out-swim him she can definitely out-wit him when he's feeling frisky We still have one baby left from the last batch we tried rearing, he's 15 weeks old tomorrow but is still the size of a 3 week old. Looks like he's got something wrong with his face as he has a sort of double chin and seems to have trouble eating, mind you, he's outlived all the others by weeks and seems quite happy Baby fancies proved to be quite hard work though and the lack of success (other than super-runt ) was a little dispiriting |

I lost one of my pearlscales to dropsy a few weeks after I got them, the others were fine and the water was ok so sometimes yes, it can be just one of those things
Sadly by the time dropsy shows and the scales start sticking out the fish are often too far gone to recover, it's a nasty illness. Don't be too hard on yourself |

I saw Satsuma, my pearlscale, releasing eggs once, took me a minute to realise what was going on! Proves she's a happy fish though

Took her back to the lfs today for another skin scrape (took one of the others too to give her moral support which actually seemed to help
) and he couldn't find any parasites in the sample She put up much more of a fight when he took the sample as well 'mmm, she's much stronger now isn't she' he said with a handful of flailing fish He recommended to give them another round of sterazin to be on the safe side with some salt to help perk her up. She's still not brilliant but hopefully will get better over time |
