I rescued this little fellow from a puddle while doing some surveys in flooded farmland in Wales last week and put him back into the main watercourse. I reckon it's a stickleback looking a bittle colourless due to stress but my colleague thinks otherwise. Not the best photo. Any help would be much appreciated...

I looked into this a while ago. Apparently assassins will attempt to eat all other snails. Nerites are able to completely close off their shells and this makes it difficult for assasins to get at them so it is likely that they will only attack them if there is no other food source available but not guaranteed. I decided to veer on the side of caution and not keep both together.

If you put them out in the garden then the birds will do the messy work for you.

I'd set it up facing the telly and use it as a jacuzzi. Then I'd smoke a pack of more menthol and drink those cans of gin and tonic from M&S while I watched the football in it.

I managed to scoop them in a small glass (actually a nutella jar but they’re shaped like a small glass and get used as them) and pour them into the breeding net. It takes a bit of perseverance but you’ll catch them eventually. It’s also worth checking your filter as I found a couple in there before.

I used one of these little breeding nets to rear zebra danio fry in the main tank. It worked fine and saves worrying about setting up/cycling and a new tank and they’re usually available in LFS….

Oh heavens to betsy, I hate it when people post photos of those horrible wee things, they give me the creeps no end. It's disgusting, that's what it is. The best way to deal it would be a MASSIVE controlled explosion.

That's quite good fun if you can peacefully co-exist with them. We had bees in our loft when I was young. I think my dad waited until the winter when there were no bees left and then got rid of the empty hive.

With regards to the stingray 15, I helped a friend of mine buy a second hand 60L tank from an LFS recently which came with this filter and was advised by the shopkeeper that the stingray had problems with smaller fish getting stuck in it and he specifically didn’t recommend it for neons which as chance would have it was what my friend was looking to keep. I’ve always found this shopkeeper trustworthy and since the tank itself was a bit of a bargain my friend bought a new eheim filter.

If you keep an eye out when you're doing a gravel vac or when you're cleaning out your filter you're likely to spot the odd danio fry now and again without having to resort to breeding hundreds of them in a seperate tank. They look a bit like half an eyelash. I managed to raise a couple of danio fry last year doing this and then sticking them in a spawning net within the big tank.
