Would they be okay with goldies? And dorset pea gravel?

I am a soft touch for pretty snails!

I do care very much for them, it's just hard when I can't keep them alive for very long, Ronnie being the oldest at 2 years - they survive in bowls longer than that :(

It just makes me feel so bad :/

Best way to get rid of these is to put some lettuce in the tank, weighted down, and then remove it in the morning when it should be covered in snails. Repeat until there's no more!

Goldy, what are the benefits of the Malaysian Trumpets?

Second dose of metronidazole gone in, Little Fishy is not going to make it for sure, she is fully pineconed (but still swimming and eating, she's a tough little fishy) - my chu from the start of the thread is looking bloated but no pineconing yet, and blind chu is still showing no symptoms, so hopefully he survives at least.

At least my rescue ranchu is in his QT tank, so he's okay, my rasboras are all present and correct, my tetras are all good, and my kribs are in lurve, and my shrimps have now had to be split over two tanks they're breeding so much, so at least I'm not the worst fish mummy in the world :/

It's one of the worst feelings, at least with any other animal you can bring them to a vet, even my little mousey has racked up 100 euro in vets bills, but at least I can bring here there, she'll get diagnosed and treated and then all better!

Suey, I re-read the Rocket thread, and I'm thinking you could be right.

We were thinking about it over dinner, and we lost two small orandas to similar, then Ronnie, then Chu got his lump, now little fishy - there's something linking these and I'm thinking something viral :/

Oh violet, thank you - however I'm in Ireland so it may take up to 5 days for it to arrive, so I'm going to see if I can get some in the LFS tomorrow.

I have enough for one dose, but it may be the weekend before I can get more, so I might wait til I have enough before starting the treatment.

More bad news, arrived home today to see Little Fishy (my oranda) has dropsy.

She looks exactly like Ronnie did, so I'm guessing something bad has come from somewhere.

Actually Suey he just let me get a closer look at him there, and his pectoral fin with the lump has a transparent streak in it too :(

I'm just going to have to wait and see, I suppose. He looks completely normal on one side, and on the other, he's quasimodo, poor chu :/

It's his pelvic fin that has the fading, the fin that has the lump looks okayish (aside from the huge lump!) - the scales around it look faded though, probably because it's rubbing there when he paddles about.

It is starting to affect his swimming a bit, his other pectoral fin sticks out at a right angle to his body, but the lump is forcing this one to point down. Doesn't stop him moving at high speed however.

When the lump was open, it just looked like flesh inside, it was pinkish and 'meaty' (hope none of you are eating lunch?) so perhaps it's just a growth, I can't see any way that it's just going to go away though, it does look quite large and permanent.

I've been using the net to drop his metromeds down to him in the tank so they don't float over the divider, so hopefully he'll start associating the net with nice things!
