Corrosion on the brake discs, which i'm presuming is where you meant, can cause alot of problems and can be caused by worn brake pads. It may be worth having your brakes serviced at the same time as the car and get them checked out properly. Echoing what fishadmin said, without a valid MOT cert your insurance won't be valid. In the unfortunate case of an accident you will be liable regardless as you're car would be classed as unroadworthy having no MOT. You also wouldn't be able to blame the garage you brought it from as it is seen as your responsibility to make sure it's roadworthy and the police would have a field day with that! Also how did you tax the car without the MOT certificate? Hope the car is alot better now!?! |

Sorry but i have to disagree with this

my car was a write off and i managed to buy tax for it! there are apparantly lots of ways around this. Just wondering but have you got MOT details yet? Without the certificate you have no guarantee the car is even road legal. You need to be chasing that up really! |

If there is no MOT certificate or valid tax disc then there is a good chance imo that the car is stolen or a repaired write-off, and you NEED to check the VIN number with the DVLA/VOSA as soon as possible i did this when buying my car and was told it wasn't stolen or a write off when in fact it turned out in the end to have been written off a year earlier! |

Hi there,
tbh i don't think there is really much you can do. i had a similar problem back in july and police said there really wasn't anything that could be done. In my case i brought the car from near my dad's around an hours drive away from me. Had MOT for 10 months although no tax, service history and immaculate condition etc. I was desperate for a car so snapped it up as it was a bargain price. I have a couple of years of mechanical training so checked over as much as i could before leaving in it. A week after buying it i noticed a small patch of oil on my drive. I have alot of back problems so couldn't physically get underneath it so drove to the nearest garage to get it looked over. Turned out there was a large hole in the sump which had been sealed over with exhaust putty. Thanks to it being a volvo and lack of universal parts would have cost me over £750 to put right. Two days before it was due in the garage to be fixed I drove down to Reading to visist family, car was running great so wasn't worried, still annoyed about the problem though and the garage was insisting it knew nothing about it. On the way back a foreign lorry switched from the left lane to the middle lane i was in and smashed into the side of my car. At this point we were near Luton so we ended up in a right mess. Car wasn't too bad at this point but i was pretty shaken. The next day my insurance company took in my car and gave it a good check over. Turns out there was damage to the axle and sump but that was from before my accident and had been repaired in a really awful way. Rightfully they declared it a write off and I got back over double what i paid for the car originally. A week later i had a visit from the police asking me where i got the car from. Turns out it was an insurance write off from the previous accident which damaged the sump and axle. Turns out that the previous owner didn;t bother getting a VIC check done on it and the MOT was from a place well known for passing dodgy cars. I was so angry but what made it worse is that the police didnt do anything to the garage, who it turns out issued the MOT and were the registered owners at the time of the previous accident. For a month i was carrying my three kids around in that bloody death trap. I think you'll have to just put it down to a bad experience and next time you buy a car don't let them know if you're backed into a corner. If things aren't as they seem then walk away, no matter how much that could cause you a problem. Maybe someone else may be able to advise of something you could try though. Good luck!!! |

I have to agree on this one.
I wona goldfish at a fair when i was about 9 years old. Mum put him in a large casserole dish and then eventually a large round "goldfish" bowl. water changes were done with water straight from the tap and only when the water went a brown colour. can't believe that in such rubbish conditions he/she lived in the bowl for 7 years! Knowing what i know now its shameful looking back, i'm not the first and definately won't be the last. I can't imagine them giving away hamsters as prizes so goldfishes should be banned too imo. |

His excuse was his daughter listed it for him. He gave me a refund on the understanding that i don't leave negative feedback. will try to sort out link later EagleC as i can't access ebay from this computer. |

hey,
thought i'd grabbed a bargain on ebay. other half fancied a tank for shrimp and managed to get a tank off ebay with stand, filter and light for £40. was brand new in box.. arrived today and for a start the plugs are foreign, the filter is in fact just a pump and there is a lighting unit in the hood but no bulb and is a very odd fitment. Seller refusing to refund even though the tank is definately not as stated in the advert. Anyone have a similar problem? Do i have any rights not looking forward to kids faces when they find out after school to top it off this was the first time i have used ebay after i got ripped off last time!! arghhhhh! |

having another look have you used this site to view the care sheets? they really are invaluable in providing you with the information you need to help your fish stay happy and healthy.
clown loaches note that they need a 500 litre tank for optimum conditions. angelfish as a bit of advice i wouldn't always believe what the pet shop tell you. the majority of the time their main priority is getting sales ![]() |

Have a read at this care sheet. I'm presuming i have this correct but please correct me if i'm wrong anyone else?!
Orandas are coldwater fish and need cooler water than what is currently in your tank. Also i thought tetras were shoaling fish and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. Hopefully someone more experienced at trops than me will come along and help better. |
