If you turn it off overnight any bacteria in the filter will die and your filter will do nothing other than add a current to the water. Out of interest what filter are you using? I have my Juwel Rekord Tank in my bedroom and I cannot hear it but that came with the tank. Before that I had a Fluval 1 filter which didn't make much noise as long as had the outlet far enough below the water level. To be honest I don't think you'll get a completely silent filter.  |
