hi julie, what type of sand have you used in your tank. also do you need anything else in with it. what about when you use a gravel cleaner, does it get sucked up the cleaner. its looks realy nice in your tank, so was thinking of changing to sand. takecare. kind regards. geoff.

Only just seen this post sorry Geoff
Its just plain aquarium sand on its own "although it kind of reminds me of sherbert" and is easy enough to clean with a gravel syphon a little gets sucked up but nothing major and all I do is put it back in the tank after I have changed the water ![]() |

Thanks Brian
although I wouldn't part with my goldfish, I do think it would make a lovely marine tank which my husband likes ![]() |

Love the bits of knarly wood - are they real? If so how do you get them to work? I bought a real piece for my tank and soaked it and soaked it, but could never get it to stay on the bottom. Then it went all smelly so I binned it.

yes the wood is real but I bought the two large pieces from maidenhead aquatics "ready soaked" so didn't have any problems with it floating or leaching any tannins/colouring
the small piece was another story I bought that dry many years ago and it took ages to stop leaching tannins and floating at first, but I managed to sort it out in the end ![]() |
