How do I upload pictures to the Photo Gallery
There's a pdf guide to adding images to the Photo Gallery here.
I'm really stuck with images. Any more help?
Thanks go to Fish_Boy for the following advice...

There are 2 situations where you'd want to display images in a FishKeeping Forum Post:

1- Where you have seen a Picture already on the Internet
found through a website search engine or a link you've
clicked on.

2- Where you have a Picture on your computers Hard Disc
Drive or a Floppy Disc or USB Memory Stick or Digital
Camera memory.

1-
In the first situation you have found a Picture/image that you would like to display directly in your Post here.

To do this you must open up the Webpage/website in your internet browser and then right click on the Pic/image and a menu opens up next to your cursor.

In this menu go down to the Last option and left click on "Properties". This will open up a window with information on the Pic/Image.

We want the Pic/Images Address/URL which is the direct web address to this individual picture, so when you look at the box that opened up you will see in the middle the “Address(URL)” and a web address to the right of this. You need to copy this address- if you know how please skip the following-(You now need to highlight this address by left clicking on the mouse at either end of the address and dragging the cursor over the address to the opposite side so all of the address is highlighted.

Now release the left click and right click on the now highlighted address.

A menu should come up and now all you have to do is left click on the option to “Copy” the address.)

Once you have done this you can click on Cancel and the Properties Box will disappear. Okay now that’s the “hard” part done.

To put this picture in your Reply or New Topic we must link it using the address you obtained and copied. Open up the Post window in FishKeeping and then enter your text and leave the blinking cursor where you would like the picture to be.

Now on your post form there are a number of buttons right of the sub-section “Message” we need the 3rd option in- so click on the picture button and a box will open up saying “Enter the URL of the image you want to add”.

Here you need to right click the mouse in the White section of the box where the blinking cursor is and a small box will open up next to it. There will be a option there saying “Paste” left click on this and you will see the address of the picture you copied go into the white box.

Now click OK and a second box will open in which you can specify if you where you wish the pic/Image to be displayed – Right(R or r) or Left(L or l) in your Post or you can leave it blank. Now click on OK. The box will disappear and you can see the address in your Post Form.

This must be done for each individual Pic/Image.
When you’re finished you can click on Preview and check if it’s working correctly before posting. And you’re done!

2-
(i)
In 2nd situation you have a picture on your PC or memory of some kind and wish to display it in your Post. In order to do this you will need to upload the pic/image as other users do not have access to your PC.

If you have the pictures on your Digital Camera memory you will can connect the relevent leeds and upload the Pics to your PC's hard disc drive or if you have a memory Card reader you can place the memory card into it and either follow the next few steps directly accessing the pics from the card or upload the Pics to the PC's Hard Disc first into a folder that you have/create.

You can either upload it to the FishKeeping Server via the “Image Manager” button in Post Forms- which I think is very easy and you can get an excellent guide to it by Andrew here- forum_image_tutorial

If you have a problem viewing the guide check that you have Adobe Reader Software on your PC or you can download it from:Adobe Reader Software

(ii)
The other method of uploading the pic/image is to have someone host it for you for free over the internet but this method is maybe a little more work than the one mentioned above and can be temp. The Host I use is ImageShack who say they wont delete the pics. They will give you a Website link Address/URL directly to the picture on their server.

For ImageShack

You don’t have to register and it takes about 30 sec’s to host a Pic. Just click Browse then a window pops up and from here you must find the picture you want hosted.

It could be on your Desktop in which case you can click on Desktop in the Window and then click on the Pic/Images name and then click open. Similarly if the Pic/image is in “My Documents” click on that button or if its on a floppy disc/media just click on “My Computer” in the window and click then double click on 3 1/2” Floppy And select the picture and click on “Open”. Or any other type of media you have a reader for.

The window will disappear and in the original web page of Imageshack click host and they'll host it and give you about 4 address/URL links to it. You can either use the Thumbnail URL or the Full size picture URL(which is the last one on the bottom of the page).
You need to copy this address- if you know how please skip the following-(You now need to Copy the Address/URL for your hosted Pic/Image. Highlight the address you want by left clicking on the mouse at either end of the address and dragging the cursor over the address to the opposite side so all of the address is highlighted.

Now release the left click and right click on the now highlighted address. A menu should come up and now all you have to do is left click on the option to “Copy” the address.) Once you have done this the Box will disappear. Okay now that’s the “hard” part done.

You could also try Put File as an Image Host.

To put this picture in your FishKeeping Reply or New Topic we must link it using the address/URL from the host and copy it.

To upload Pictures to the Gallery you can use the same method described in the Guide by Andrew here:

forum_image_tutorial

Just go to the Photo Gallery and click on Add Photo and in the new window follow the steps in the above guide.

I think I should also add that there are limits to the Picture size that can be uploaded. If have problems you should resize the Pic's using photo/image editing software.

You can resize Pics using Free Software from Microsoft - Power Toys Image resizer - will resize either individually or - if needed - in bulk- it has various presets and also custom settings. It adds a "resize picture" option to your "right Click " memu ...

Get it here...
Find Image Resizer here and download it

Or you can resize pictures online via websites such as online Resize2mail

Also a repost of Goldy's advice re image size:

Can I just mention to members that when posting photo's please try to keep them below 600x600 pixels if possible, as it is not only hard for people to read the posts because the thread page is stretched but also difficult for those on dial up connections or have small screens.
